You may have done this jump a thousand times before but then get instakilled because the console registered the jump on the wrong frame (a 30 msec window). Games like Crash, on the other hand, are somewhat cheap difficulty. Bloodborne is a bit faster, but it's still nothing like a Ninja Gaiden game.

Yes, you may die a few times on that new boss till you figure it out, but the timing windows are decent - if you die later it's because you weren't paying attention, not because you missed a 1 frame window. 'Surprise' traps are telegraphed if you're watching the walls and floor. I remember buying Klonoa for the Wii, playing an hour then getting the PS1 out the closet to play the original version because it just wasn't the same.Ĭrash was definitely more challenging, but I don't get why difficult platforming, with precise movement, is bad to some, yet the Dark Souls games are "refreshing" to the same people, even though they are far more punishing.ĭark Souls games aren't hard if you take your time and pay attention. Yes they did a great job on this, but it doesn't beat the fact I am not going to buy the same game more than once if I can help it. My Sega Genesis still works quite well and playing Sonic games in it is better play playing those same games, even in remake, anywhere else. Then again I have tons of old videogame consoles and I never throw or sell them away. I might sound like a Rat but I tend to prefer until games go on sale.ĭoes this remake got the adapative gameplay of the original? As in, lose a few lives and get a powerup? Lose even more and the level gets easier?Īlso I tend to prefer the original unless it was kind of an evident beta, like how *Super Mario 64* was rushed so much they left the castle unfinished and also didn't test the game with kids audiences as much as they should have. I got the three first games for less than $30 ages ago but they were used. I don't think $40 is too bad a deal especially compared to Activision's other recently made available for seperate purchase Call of Duty 4 Remastered which is also $40 and doesn't even include the bloody map pack.

Weren't the PS3 remasters $40 new too? With less work put into them? Heck buying the PS1 versions would cost $18 on PSN alone. $40 isn't that expensive when it's 3 games.
I also think $40 is a tad expensive for a remake but that's inflation I think. Overall since the only new content is a playable Coco and my old PS1 still works and so so all the five Crash games I have for it, I am just gonna skip this game.

Maybe a digital manual included with the game would have been nice I guess? Remember how Crash used to look back in the day? No, you honestly don't, it looked way worse (while still being technologically impressive, for the time).Ī tutorial? Adding one wouldn't have been hard, the Japanese version of Crash 1 kinda had one, but there would have been a lot of backlash. But there's a lot of content for 40€, and I'll be replaying the shit out of Warped, even if I can't get my daughter into it.Įdit: for those interested, here's a DF analysis video - quite uneventful (as DF has stated themselves, their job is quite boring if there are no performance issues - the base model can drop in framerate in select cutscenes, but otherwise it's solid 30fps) as far as performance analysis goes, but the comparisons between the original game on a PS1 and this remake are very interesting. It's not a bad remake, as a matter of fact I quite appreciate the technical effort (apart from the FPS and loading times), just the games themselves haven't aged that well. And some of the gameplay mechanics are really bad (let's face it, running towards the camera trying to escape a boulder/dinosaur was bullshit then, it is bullshit still now). This is good (and the look is really great - R&C in HDR is still better though), but it is as difficult as it ever was. If my 10-yo is any indication, that would be Ratchet&Clank. On the other hand, right now, for both the cost and the amount of content in here, I cannot think of a better PlayStation-exclusive platformer to give to a kid-especially the kind of kid who doesn't mind studying FAQs and secret-items guides to get to the 100-percent mark.
